2024 Dog Olympics
Every 4 years, Do More With Your Dog offers Olympic titles for dogs for a limited time (till the end of the year).
Get in on these limited titles at GCOC and participate in the GCOC fundraising event.
To get a title, you can pick one of the following props:
A hoop, like a hoola hoop
A ball of any size
Balance Beam
Or anything the dog can fetch
You will need to do 10 different things, of any difficulty level, to get a title for that prop/trick category. The behaviors don't need to be on cue so you can use lures if needed. And they don't need to be difficult tricks.
Each prop category requires 10 different behaviors to get a title.
Some examples for the hoop category:
Walk through a hoop
Jump through a hoop
Walk around a hoop on the floor
Sit inside a hoop on the floor
Go through 2 hoops in a row
Loose leash walk around a hoop on the floor
Jump from one platform to another through a hoop
Spin inside a hoop
Wanda and Justine can help you figure out tricks your dog can do or you can search youtube as suggested below.
There is also a "torch relay" category you can learn about on the DMWYD website.
Come join us and celebrate this historic event at GCOC, the year of the Olympics. You will have an opportunity to learn new tricks and work with your dog, perform trick training, and earn up to 4 titles.
We will have Justine Borghello, who is a DMWYD Certified Dog Trick Instructor and trick instructor at GCOC, who can Judge you for the tricks you demonstrate for that title. Justine's assistant Wanda Austin, who is a trick instructor at GCOC, will be helping out to instruct some of the tricks in these events.
If you have any balls, hoops, or a balance beam that is safe for a dog, we would be appreciative for any extra items to help out for these titles. If you have a Klimb bring that as well.
To fully understand what these titles look like, go to YouTube and type in "DMWYD 2024 hoop dog Olympics" and that will show dogs demonstrating 10 tricks with a hoop. You can switch out the word "hoops" for "ball, "balance beam", and "fetch" to see examples of 10 tricks with the different props.
Google "DMWYD 2024 Dog Olympics", to get a description of the tricks for each prop type. We will have some items to work with at GCOC. Come join the fun at GCOC with your dogs, with this historical 2024 Dog Olympics.

Time: Noon to 4pm
What to bring: Lots of high value treats, kennel and items pertaining to your tricks if you have any.
