Engagement
Engagement, as defined by Forrest Micke, is when the dog is focused on you, wants to be with you, and wants what you have.
This class is designed to lay the foundation for achieving engagement in different environments. We will be teaching, step-by-step, the habits of acclimation, attention, and desire to work between both dog and handler. Using these methods we seek to avoid begging or bribing the dog. Good engagement is the cornerstone for successful dog-handler relationships at home, in training, and in the competition ring. We look forward to having you in class.
Please bring high-value treats, a treat pouch, a favorite toy, and a crate. When you and your dog are not working, you may watch to learn from other dog-handler teams.

NOTE: After studying the data related to the Delta COVID Variant the CDC has updated the Mask Recommendations. The most current statement is "Everyone in areas of substantial transmission to wear a mask in public indoor places, even if they are fully vaccinated."
Please bring your own mask and plan to wear it in class.
