What is Competitive Obedience?

According to the AKC obedience is, "a dog's ability to perform a prescribed set of exercises on which it is scored. In each exercise, you must score more than 50 percent of the possible points and get a total score of at least 170 out of a possible 200. Each time your dog gets at least a 170 qualifying score, he's earned a "leg" toward his title. Earn three legs and your dog has just earned an obedience title! There are 3 levels at which your dog can earn a title and each is more difficult than the one before it."   To learn more visit to AKC's Obedience Page or visit the GCOC Obedience Page

Does My Dog Need to Be Purebred to Attend GCOC Classes?

No, the GCOC recognizes that a well trained dog is a happy and safer pet.  Therefore, we do everything to encourage everyone to spend time training their pet.  This is not only great for the dog, but also good exercise for the owner and a great way to bond with your pet.

Why Should I Join GCOC?

GCOC offers its members many great opportunities.  There is the opportunity to meet other pet lovers in the area.  The club consists of people just starting out in the various sports and others that have been around for year.  We all love sharing our dogs with others and working together.  In addition to the great socialization opportunities members also get discounts on all the clubs classes.  They can also arrange time to use the clubs facilities and equipment (for a small annual fee).  It is a great way for people new to the sport to learn the old tricks while allowing the old timers to learn a few new ones.  For more information about joining visit our membership page by Clicking Here.
