Rally is a relatively new event put on by AKC licensed clubs around the
country. It is a great way for people looking to ease themselves into
obedience. It is less formal and strict than traditional obedience
competition. The owner along with their dog navigate a course together
stopping at stations (signs) along the way performing various simple obedience
task such as sit, down, weave, etc.

various rally signs (Tasks). For more information you can visit our

According to the AKC obedience is, "a dog's ability to perform a prescribed
set of exercises on which it is scored. In each exercise, you must score more
than 50 percent of the possible points and get a total score of at least 170 out
of a possible 200. Each time your dog gets at least a 170 qualifying score, he's
earned a "leg" toward his title. Earn three legs and your dog has just earned an
obedience title! There are 3 levels at which your dog can earn a title and each
is more difficult than the one before it." To learn more visit to

No, while you will need to have a registered dog to participate in most AKC
sanctioned events you do not have to have one to join GCOC. You only need
to have a desire to learn more about the various dog sports and a love of
animals.
No, the GCOC recognizes that a well trained dog is a happy and safer pet.
Therefore, we do everything to encourage everyone to spend time training their
pet. This is not only great for the dog, but also good exercise for the
owner and a great way to bond with your pet.
GCOC offers its members many great opportunities. There is the
opportunity to meet other pet lovers in the area. The club consists of
people just starting out in the various sports and others that have been
around for year. We all love sharing our dogs with others and working
together. In addition to the great socialization opportunities members
also get discounts on all the clubs classes. They can also arrange time to
use the clubs facilities and equipment (for a small annual fee). It is a
great way for people new to the sport to learn the old tricks while allowing the
old timers to learn a few new ones. For more information about joining

According to the AKC, "agility isthe ultimate game for you and your
dog. It also one of the most exciting canine sports for spectators. In agility,
a dog demonstrates is agile nature and versatility by following cues from the
handler through a timed obstacle course. The course has jumps, tunnels, weave
poles, and other obstacles. Agility strengthens the bond between dogs and
handlers, it is extremely fun, and it provides vigorous exercise for both!"
